This year, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Annual Symposium on the Holocaust, a program that has shaped Holocaust education in British Columbia for half a century. The symposium was founded because Holocaust survivors recognized the urgent need to confront ignorance, denial and indifference by giving young people access to eyewitness accounts and historical evidence.
Today, the symposium is a foundational part of the VHEC’s innovative approach to Holocaust education. The world in which students learn has changed significantly—students online are constantly exposed to competing truth claims about history, many of them inaccurate, misleading or openly antisemitic.
This is why the VHEC’s work is more important than ever. And this is why we need your support today.
Our Holocaust education programs are designed to equip students with the skills they need to evaluate evidence, interrogate sources, recognize misinformation and think critically about the information they encounter every day.
We are delighted to receive donations by mail, phone, or through the form below. While we encourage online donations for your convenience, we are equally pleased to accept contributions and multi-year pledges over the phone at 604-264-0499.
