Pre-War Jewish Life in Vienna
In our family there were three children: my brother, Manfred, our sister, Lori, and myself. We lived in Vienna. My sweet mother, Chaje, came from Karascynza in Poland. My father, Leopold, was born in Vienna. In Vienna, we had a large extended family. I had my grandfather, Solomon, and his wife, and I had uncles and cousins.
My mother came from a very religious home in Poland where her father was very active in the synagogue. My Dad’s father had also originally come from Poland. My parents were not assimilated like other Jews in Vienna. They always went to schul, and celebrated every holiday. |
