The film workshop Pigeon and a survivor speaker will be offered from December 5, 2011 – May 31, 2012. The program, recommended for grades 6-12, includes: An interactive workshop, in which students explore social responsibility and moral decision-making during the Holocaust and other times of moral crisis. A survivor speaker including a question & answer period. Classes visiting the VHEC will receive a set of Holocaust survivor memoirs courtesy of the Azrieli Foundation. Program details: School visits are 90 minutes, with start times of 9:30 or 10:00 am in the morning, and 1:00 pm in the afternoon. Alternate times available upon request. The 90 minutes involve two 45 minutes sessions, one for the film and the other for the Holocaust survivor speaker. The VHEC can accommodate two classes (approximately 60 students) at the same time. Cost: $100/class of 30 students. Three days cancellation notice is required, or the full fee may be charged. Due to the high volume of requests for tours, we recommend that you book at least two weeks in advance. Preparatory materials: Advance preparation will ensure that your students get the most out of their visit the VHEC. We strongly advise that you use the following materials: Outreach Orientation Package with guidelines for preparing your students for hearing a Holocaust survivor speaker.
