Generations After

Holocaust Descendant Programming at the VHEC

Generations After is a new initiative that provides programs for second-, third- and fourth- generation descendants of Holocaust survivors, fostering a social and supportive educational forum for preserving the legacies and lessons of the Holocaust.

Descendants of Holocaust survivors hold an awareness of their families’ histories and feel a deep commitment to share their stories. The Generations After group serves to honour descendants’ place within their family histories. It offers descendants a chance to share the unique legacies of their survivor relatives while forging their own perspectives and contributions.

A companion section with the same title, dedicated to writing by descendants, appears in Zachor, the VHEC’s biannual magazine.

This group is spearheaded by Talia Mastai and Dr. Abby Wener Herlin, employees of the VHEC and third-generation descendants. Please email Dr. Abby Wener Herlin (3G), associate director of programs and community relations, to sign up for our mailing list: abbyherlin@vhec.org.
