School districts, educators or school teachers can request classroom resource sets to support teaching and learning about the Holocaust with confidence. These sets accompany Fragments in Focus: The History of the Holocaust, the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre’s teaching website for Grades 6–12.

Classroom resource sets are available in English and French and include:

• 1 Teacher’s Guide – includes pedagogical guidelines for teaching about the Holocaust and using primary sources in the classroom as well as a user guide for the Fragments in Focus teaching website.
• 30 Student Activity Booklets – includes 19 engaging, inquiry-based student activities, each centered on an original artefact or testimony and linked to a theme of Holocaust study.
• 30 Historical Theme Text Booklets – offer a brief history of the Holocaust at a grade 8 reading level that covers 19 themes of Holocaust study, to be used in conjunction with the student activity booklet.

Aligned with the BC social studies curriculum and supported by the Ministry of Education, the Fragments in Focus teaching website and classroom resource set allow students to explore Holocaust history through a guided analysis of more than 160 primary sources, including artefacts, photographs, documents and video testimony from survivors and witnesses in British Columbia.

Through guided questions, source analysis and historical inquiry, students are prompted to examine the human experiences, ethical complexities and lasting significance of the Holocaust.
