In Memory of Dr. Roberta Kremer z’l

Roberta Kremer z’l, 1998.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Roberta Kremer z’l on November 25, 2024.

Roberta Kremer served as the executive director of the VHEC from 1996 to 2006. She is remembered as a brilliant mind, a generous and compassionate leader, and a mentor and nurturer of talent and creativity.

Roberta’s strong vision for the VHEC was balanced by her care for survivors, whose individuality and needs guided her approach to supporting the survivor community and, by extension, the VHEC.

Her approach established the VHEC as a site of innovation in exhibition development, and helped reach audiences who otherwise may not have learned about the Holocaust. During her tenure, the VHEC produced many highly regarded exhibitions, including Broken Threads, Shanghai as a Refuge, Open Hearts – Closed Doors, Faces of Loss, Janusz Korczak and the Children of the Warsaw Ghetto, Ravensbruck: Forgotten Women of the Holocaust and others.

Roberta’s impact on the VHEC is felt to this day.

May Her Memory Be For a Blessing.
