The VHEC offers professional learning opportunities to support teachers in bringing Holocaust education into the classroom. Our sessions introduce new resources, share best practices in pedagogy, and provide space for collaboration with fellow educators.

Teaching the Holocaust: New Resources and Strategies for the Updated BC Curriculum (Vancouver)

Location: Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre
Join the education team at the Vancouver Holocaust Education and discover new educational resources. Learn all about our new BC Ministry of Education-approved online teaching resource Fragments in Focus: The History of the Holocaust and spend time collaborating with educators on how to integrate it in your classrooms. Attendees will take an exhibition tour, learn Best Practices in Holocaust Education and gain knowledge on the influence of propaganda during the Holocaust. This professional development is free of charge and lunch is provided.

Learn all about the VHEC’s new BC Ministry of Education-approved online teaching resource Fragments in Focus: The History of the Holocaust and spend time collaborating with educators on how to integrate it in your classrooms. Attendees will learn Best Practices in Holocaust Education and learn how to use memoirs and Azrieli’s educational resources with students. This professional development is free of charge and lunch is provided.

Exploring Legacies: A Day at the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre

Location: Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre
Join Vancouver Heritage Foundation for a new Pro-D for Educators on November 21st from 9am-3pm at the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre. We will spend the day learning about the Vancouvers Jewish Community, the Oakridge Neighbourhood, and about how the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre fosters the connection between Holocaust History and how the history of the Holocaust continues to be relevant today.
The day will take place inside and outside with programming inside the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre, a walk around the Oakridge neighbourhood, and a tour of one of the local Synagogues.
A light breakfast and lunch are provided.
This session hosted in partnership with the Vancouver Heritage Foundation.
