Project-Based Opportunity: 3D Developer
About the Project
The VHEC is developing an online exhibition, In Focus: The Holocaust Through the VHEC Collection for the Digital Museum of Canada. The exhibition will facilitate visitor/user interaction with the history of the Holocaust through objects and personal narratives. Representing tangible entry points into a watershed historic event, each object tells a unique and intimate story—be it of individual loss, resistance, survival or hope—while also speaking to universal themes of Holocaust study.
Artefacts, photographs, documents and testimonies featured in In Focus have been donated to the VHEC by Holocaust survivors, eyewitnesses and their families. The connections of primary sources to Canada allow users to make meaningful connections between historical events and their own contexts and communities.
About the Role
The VHEC is seeking a project-based 3D generalist to join our team to lead and implement the creation of eight to ten 3D representations of objects (Holocaust-era artefacts) realized through photogrammetry. These renderings will be able to be ‘handled’ by website visitors, allowing a user experience that is distinct from the museum experience. The visitor will be able to move the object in 360 degree and zoom in to explore details that would otherwise not be accessible.
The renderings will be displayed in Sketchfab, the industry standard for browser-based 3D model interaction.
This role will be paid a project-based fee of up to $5,000, dependent on experience.
