THE VHEC, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE JCC AND TEMPLE SHOLOM, PRESENT
Yom HaShoah Commemoration
- Wednesday, April 23, 2025
- 7 PM
- Temple Sholom
7190 Oak St, Vancouver, BC V6P 3Z9
Join us for this year’s Yom HaShoah commemoration which will take place on April 23 at Temple Sholom (7190 Oak Street).
Please note the change in location—in previous years, the event was held at the JCC. This year, we gather at Temple Sholom to honour the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and to pay tribute to survivors and their families.
This year’s commemoration marks the 82nd anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Under the musical direction of Wendy Bross Stuart, the evening will feature songs and prayers of remembrance performed by singers who are descendants of Holocaust survivors. Acclaimed cellist Eric Wilson and Cantor Shani Cohen will contribute to this contemplative tribute.
Holocaust survivors will participate in a candle-lighting ceremony, with reflections from Miriam Dattel, a Holocaust survivor, and Claire Sicherman, a descendant of survivors.
This annual event provides a space for survivors to remember and mourn and for all of us to reaffirm our commitment to never forget.
This event is free and open to the public. No RSVP required.
If you are unable to attend the event in person, you can livestream it via Temple Sholom’s website, Facebook, YouTube, channel 882 on TELUS Optik TV and Shaw Blue Curve TV through Temple Sholom’s YouTube Channel.
